Nuestras Voces Adelante

Our Voices Moving Forward.

Cancer is the leading cause of death for Hispanics. The Alliance's Nuestras Voces Adelante Network works to save lives by reducing the impact of tobacco use and related cancers in Hispanic communities throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

How It Started

Selected by CDC in open competition.

In 2023, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced a competitive process to award cooperative agreements to reduce the impact of commercial tobacco use and cancer-related morbidity and mortality in underserved communities. The Alliance was selected as a funded partner for this collaboration with CDC.

Our goal is to expand partnerships and collaborative opportunities with trusted Hispanic community-based organizations, coalitions, and other stakeholders to implement culturally proficient tobacco control and cancer prevention interventions. Key Network members build and leverage their resources to support other organizations across the country, and the Network prioritizes outreach to national and state organizations — with a focus on state health departments' tobacco and cancer programs.

Network Efforts

Three lines of work.

1

Webinars and trainings

We design, develop, and conduct tobacco and cancer control webinars and trainings on the latest data, studies, and findings relevant to key decision makers.

2

A community of practice

We lead a community of practice of partners committed to accelerating health improvements — identifying subject matter experts and evidence-based interventions, and highlighting promising practices where such interventions do not yet exist, with training and technical assistance for communities nationwide.

3

Communications and outreach

We increase the reach of tobacco and cancer control campaigns by creating and disseminating culturally proficient media messages alongside CDC campaigns and interventions.
